Getting Started

It takes courage to reach out. Whether you are certain your want to begin therapy or are wavering at the idea, know that getting started is usually the hardest part.

Our first session will involve discussion about what brings you to therapy. After this time I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include. If you decide to continue with therapy, I typically schedule one session per week at a time we agree on.

Counseling is a collaborative process where we work together to address your needs, while also identifying strengths. A treatment plan will be agreed upon which will help guide the direction and anticipated time line of our work.

Due to the nature of my work, I am often not immediately available by telephone. My telephone is answered by confidential voicemail that I monitor frequently. If you find yourself in an urgent situation, make a judgement about the prudence of waiting for my call versus calling your primary care physician, 911, or the Anchorage Community Mental Health Center's 24-hour crisis line at (907) 563-3200.
