If we really want to live a joyful, connected and meaningful life, we must talk about things that get in the way
— Brené Brown

Hello. I'm Mandy Casurella.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved Supervisor in Anchorage, Alaska. Over the past 15 years I have enjoyed working in a wide range of settings from psychiatric emergency rooms to remote Madagascar. Currently I work in private practice. While most of my practice is devoted to providing general adult psychotherapy, I enjoy a sub-speciality of resourcing children, families and institutions with tools and practices to help build emotional intelligence. I love my work and consider it a privilege to come alongside anyone looking to grow, heal, recover or live more fully into personal and relational well-being. I use a compassionate and integrative approach in psychotherapy, tailoring sessions to the needs of each client.

I have specialized training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Mindfulness. In addition, I provide Emotion Coaching, a research-based method for teaching children to self regulate their behavior and emotions.

I earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology and a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. I firmly believe that learning never ends and I am currently engaged in a 2 year post-graduate certificate program in Relationally Focused Psychodynamic Therapy.

Reading, continuing education, reflection, community, faith and meditation are essential personal practices that support my professional work. For fun I can be found adventuring in the mountains and along the coastline of wild Alaska with my husband, two sons and dog.
